CRAFT AI for Minecraft: How to Install and Use It

CRAFT AI is a Minecraft: Java Edition mod that uses your signed-in Claude Code account to build structures from written requests. It changes one game; it does not merge two games or belong in the cross-game mashup directory.

Quick answer: Install the matching Minecraft 26.3 mod profile, add the CRAFT AI JAR, sign in to Claude Code, open a world, press K, and describe a small build. The mod itself is free; using Claude Code requires an eligible Claude subscription. The creator lists beta 0.13.3 at this check. This guide follows the creator's installation guide (opens in a new tab), checked October 16, 2026. GameMerging AI has not independently installed or tested the mod.

Check your setup first

You need Match this before installing
Game Minecraft: Java Edition 26.3 or a compatible 26.3 fix release. Bedrock, 1.21.x, 26.1 and 26.2 are not supported.
Mod loader Fabric Loader 0.19.5+ with Fabric API for 26.3; or Forge 66+; or NeoForge 26.3.0.52-beta+. Use one matching profile.
Java Java 25, commonly supplied by the official launcher.
AI account Claude Code installed on the computer that runs Minecraft, signed in with Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. Claude's free plan does not include Claude Code.
Computer Windows, macOS or Linux. Install Claude Code in Windows itself when playing Minecraft on Windows, not only inside WSL.

The creator provides one CRAFT AI JAR for the three supported loaders. Fabric additionally needs Fabric API; Forge and NeoForge do not. The creator labels NeoForge support beta. Check the current creator guide (opens in a new tab) if a later release changes these requirements.

Install CRAFT AI

1. Make a matching Minecraft profile

Do: In your launcher, create a Minecraft 26.3 profile with Fabric, Forge or NeoForge. For the official Minecraft Launcher, install your chosen loader from its official installer and select the profile it creates. With Fabric, also get Fabric API built for 26.3.

Check: Start that profile once without CRAFT AI. Confirm Minecraft opens and the launcher shows the intended loader and version. Then quit.

If it fails: Fix the Minecraft, Java or loader installation first. A plain Minecraft profile will not load the mod. The creator's guide (opens in a new tab) has launcher-specific steps for the official launcher, Prism, Modrinth App and CurseForge.

2. Download and place the mod

Do: Use the download in the official CRAFT AI install section (opens in a new tab). Put the craftai-...jar file in the mods folder of the exact profile or instance you will launch. With Fabric, put the matching Fabric API JAR there as well. Remove older craftai-...jar files from that folder.

Check: Your launcher's mod list or mods folder shows one current CRAFT AI JAR; Fabric users also see the API JAR. For the official launcher, the usual mods folder is %appdata%\.minecraft\mods on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods on macOS, and ~/.minecraft/mods on Linux. Other launchers can use a folder per instance; open it from that launcher rather than guessing.

If it fails: Check that the JAR is in the profile's own folder, the file matches the current creator download, and Fabric API is present only when using Fabric. Do not use a JAR from an unrelated mirror.

3. Install and connect Claude Code

Do: Install Claude Code using Anthropic's current installation instructions (opens in a new tab). Open a new terminal and run claude --version; a version response confirms the program is available. Start your modded Minecraft profile, open a world and press K. If the panel reports that Claude is not signed in, choose Sign in to Claude and finish the browser sign-in with the subscribed account. You can also run claude and /login in a terminal.

Check: The in-game panel opens and identifies a Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise subscription. The mod checks the account again when you return to the game.

If it fails: If the panel says Claude Code not found, confirm claude --version works in a new terminal. On Windows, Claude Code must be installed in Windows. If the panel still says not signed in, return to the game and wait briefly, or use claude → /login. If it identifies the free plan or an API-key login, follow the account instructions in the creator guide (opens in a new tab).

4. Make one small build

Do: Back up your world. Stand where you want to build, press K, enter a specific request such as “a small stone tower with a pointed roof beside me,” and press Enter. Begin with a small structure so you can see what happened before requesting a larger build.

Check: The panel shows progress and blocks appear in the world. To reverse a build, use /undo or the History tab. You can refine the next request after inspecting the result.

If it fails: Read the status line in the panel first: it distinguishes missing Claude Code, sign-in problems and request failures. Confirm you can use the necessary commands in the world or server. The creator warns that the AI can run game commands and that command side effects cannot always be undone, which is why the backup matters.

Fix a specific problem

Minecraft closes or says the mod is incompatible

Compare the running profile with Minecraft 26.3, Java 25, and the required loader version. With Fabric, check for Fabric API built for 26.3. Keep only one current CRAFT AI JAR. Older JARs from before the creator's multi-loader release may be rejected by Forge or NeoForge.

Pressing K does nothing

Open a world first. Check the launcher started the modded profile and that CRAFT AI appears in its mod list. Another mod may claim K; change Open CRAFT AI in Options → Controls.

The sign-in browser did not open, or the game still says “not signed in”

Use the panel's Open the page again action or open its sign-in address in a browser. Return to the game and allow it to recheck. If needed, open Claude Code in a terminal and run /login with the subscribed account.

The request runs but nothing builds

Read the panel's actual error, verify the account and the world's command permissions, and try a small request in a single-player world. Save the error text, Minecraft version, loader and CRAFT AI version before asking the creator for help.

Questions players ask

Is CRAFT AI a Minecraft and Claude game mashup?

No. It is an AI-assisted mod for one game, Minecraft. Claude Code supplies the AI service; it is not a second game being connected.

Do I need a CRAFT AI account or API key?

The creator says the mod needs neither. It uses your eligible Claude Code subscription, paid separately to Anthropic.

Can I use it on a server?

The creator says it works where the player has permission to use /fill and /setblock. Server permissions and performance affect what it can build; check the official guide (opens in a new tab) before trying it with others.
