Before you play
The creator lists Windows, Elden Ring on Steam version 2.7.1, and the Steam Ultimate HD release of Resident Evil 4 (2005). The RE4 remake is not the required game. Steam must be running and signed in. The creator says the mod reads Leon's files from your own RE4 installation, and recommends a new Vagabond save for the intended start.
First actions
- Open the creator's Melty page and read its current requirements before pressing Play in Melty.
- Start with a new Vagabond save if you want the creator's intended loadout.
- Use F8 to turn Leon mode on or off. Right mouse aims, left mouse fires, 1 and 2 select the guns, and R reloads. Follow the on-screen KICK and DODGE prompts; H uses a carried green herb.
What to try first
In a safe starting area, switch Leon mode on, aim and fire the handgun, reload, then try the knife and a prompted dodge. The creator says F8 returns to Elden Ring's own character, camera, and controls. The new Vagabond start gives Leon loaded guns and one herb; an existing character can also work, but does not match the intended start.
If it fails
If Elden Ring shows a notice and runs normally, check that the required 2005 Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD installation is present; the creator says Leon's files are read from your own copy. If Elden Ring closes shortly after launch, check that Steam is running and signed in before using Melty's Play action. Compare the Elden Ring version with the creator's current requirements before trying other fixes.
Current limit
The creator labels this a work-in-progress test build and warns that parts may be rough. GameMerging AI has not independently run this build.
